My history and my work

I live up on the hill. Little boxes on the hillside all around me.

  1. I'm from Norway. Read your blog almost every day. I've seen black tar heroin many times and wanted to find out how you all are today, so I found you, Alice and Oreo.

My brother is an addict and I was an addict too, many years ago.

  2. I am suddenly "awake", I'm sitting at a bar(86,87?) with a beer in front of me, I'm not causing a commotion, I just came out of a blackout, only I know this, what city am I in?I look out the door, the street is familiar, I'm in the Tenderloin-again, I have lost my car-again, I look for 2 hrs, I can't find it, (a blessing in disguise, drunk driving is terrible!) I take a train home, the car is at home, wow!. I don't risk others lives (or mine) driving drunk anymore!, or lose my car anymore either. I run 40+ miles a week now. I'll be running the streets of SF in June 2013(SF Marathon), bye.

  5. Lisa from Toronto Canada. Just watched the documentary, Black Tar Heroine for the first time. I am 38 years old with an 11 yr old son. Just giving him the opportunity to look at some real people, real issues and scare the shit out of him. I will not hide the ugly truth from him. He needs to see life and the consequences that come from them. I am sorry you took the hard road, thrilled you got better and thankful to you and the others in the video for showing my son that this is not the way. R.I.P to all those who have passed. Love to you and your family xo

  6. Hi, I'm from Bosnia. Thanks to your story I have learnt that there are things in life far worse than living in a third world country :(
I'm a high school teacher of English and I realize how lucky my teenage students are not to have drugs so easily available...although they are exposed to many bad influences.
    Thank you and stay strong.

  7. Hi I'm from England; I was first brought to your blog by watching Black Tar Heroin and after that I have just been fascinated by all of your individual stories. I find what you write really interesting and more than that real. I think it's amazing to see how you have been clean for so long after being in so deep. I would love to hear more about Jessica, I feel that there little information about her. Thank you for sharing your story.
